Conversations Between Survivors

Here is the sort version of our Confidentiality Statement to our members and service participants.

Staff and volunteers at Soft Echoes, softechoes.com, and parent companies, will keep confidential all information communicated to them by survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or coronavirus and cancer utilizing Soft Echoes services. This confidentiality agreement means that:

  1. We will not disclose to any other person or entity whether we have had contact with you or provided services to you, or, if you are a domestic violence/abuse victim member, whether or not you are residing in any one of our supported shelters;
  2. We will not disclose to any other person or entity information or materials that you have disclosed or given to us or that we have disclosed or given to you.
  3. We will oppose any subpoena or other legal effort to obtain this information from us, when you have not authorized the release of this information.

There are some exceptions to this confidentiality. The information that you give us may not be kept confidential if:

  1. We learn or have reason to suspect that a minor child is being abused or neglected. In such a case, we will need to contact Child Protective Services;
  2. We witness through sight or hearing an actual or imminent physical assault or other unlawful and dangerous act upon you by another person. In such case, we may contact law enforcement for assistance;
  3. We learn or have reason to believe that you intend to harm yourself. In such case, we may notify law enforcement and or emergency medical personnel to seek assistance for you;
  4. We learn or have reason to believe that you intend to harm another person and have the means and ability to do so. In such case we may contact law enforcement and/or may warn the person who you intend to harm.

If you give us written or verbal permission to release information to others, we will do so in accordance with the terms of that permission. You will have the right to revoke that permission at any time.

Membership with Soft Echoes is free. WebCasted Group Enrollment by our members is free as well. Webcasted Groups are always available to our members, coronavirus survivors, cancer survivors and domestic violence victims, court ordered or not, whether you have been attending weekly groups for years after your first enrollment and group participation, or you attend periodically to align yourself, or you came back after several years do to a new relationship with developing issues that you want to address with your peers, or that you want to give back to the newcomers as a form of service. Once a member, always a member. We will be here for you with not only the Webcasted Groups that we provide for free but with ongoing resource updates and materials from this decade.
